Busy busy busy and a sneaky weekend away.

Time is just rushing by, work is manic and I don't seem to get 5 minutes to myself. These short days are impacting on my energy levels and once I've finished work I really don't want to do much else other than sit and chill.

We did however muster the energy to take Stan the van out for 1 last trip before he's settled in for winter. We snook off for 2 nights to Glastonbury  at one of our favourite sites, The Old Oaks.  We met up with some friends and just had a nice quiet weekend.

I even managed to pick up a couple of Christmas presents whilst we walked around Glastonbury.

We were blessed with the weather again, although a bit chilly we were nice and snug in our vans.

Tomorrow I am off to Nottingham overnight for a work trip, I really don't want to go, I've become more of a home bird as I've got older, but needs must and it does break up the monotony of sitting in my home office all week.

Happy Monday!

Here we go for another week.

I'm sat at my desk and have done some work admin clear up. Its a chilly misty dull morning here so I'm happy to be cosy and working from home.

Yesterday we ventured out to the Tobacco Factory Market. Haven't been there in years and was hoping for some Christmas inspiration. Its full of small independent businesses and is lovely to walk around although small. I didn't get very inspired lots of nice things for me but not so much the people I am trying to locate gifts for.

After a walk about the market we headed up North street, very nice place for a Sunday morning mooch, some shops were closed as it was Sunday but the ones that were open were really interesting shops. I could have spent a fortune but mindful I was not shopping for me I didn't actually buy anything.

Whilst mooching up the road I did spot 2 of the great artworks that have been done

This seagull was painted in 2018 and looks up North street, he peeks around the building, it's great.
I really want to go and look at the other murals that have been painted for Upfest. If you're ever in Bristol its worth checking them out. I'm going to grab a map and try and visit them all over the quieter winter weekends.

Midweek treat.

Another week done and dusted, Its been a bit of a hectic week again and I've  not had much to post about.

The highlight of the week so far was Wednesday night, one of my best friends turned sixty and hubby and I celebrated 25 years of being together.

Hubs and I stopped in our favourite gin bar for a sneaky gin before we headed to the restaurant to meet our friends. We had a great night, leaving the restaurant to head to King Street to sit and listen to some live  music. I cant believe we sat outside until gone 11pm in November.

We all had a thoroughly lovely time, but to be honest I really cant take going out on a work night ! I was blooming knackered the next day.

Weekending.

I've had a lovely week despite having to work for 5 of the days !Work whizzed by as always. Nothing new there, just grin and get on with it, needs must.

Thursday night eldest son decided that he would take us to a local pub for dinner to save cooking, his treat. I had a Mushroom Risotto and a large glass of red ! yumm

This was the view out across the river when we left, the river was just on the cusp of turning, it looked almost mirror like. It was a lovely evening and so nice to spend time with him. Hubs did come but younger son was out.

Yesterday I finally got to meet up with my oldest friend, I have known her since I was 3 years old! The last time we got together was just before the dreaded covid hit. So much to catch up on. We did some shopping then went for lunch.  Despite having been double vaccinated she caught Covid a while back and was very poorly, she's more or less back to normal but so scary to image what the outcome would have been should she not have been vaccinated.

I came home to an empty house as boys were out watching Rugby and hubby had gone to his brothers for a night. I rarely get time completely alone so I snuggled in my chair and binge read my book . I actually finished  it. I loved it, its ended mid way into a story line, its going to be a trilogy , but it means I have to wait now until she finishes the next book in the series.

Today I have had a lovely lie in, bed all to myself was a luxury, and am just pottering around doing housework and the usual stuff before we head out later to a quiz night at another local pub with some friends. They decided that they needed to get them selves out now that Covid restrictions had eased, else they just don't go anywhere. They invited us and so, why not. Mind you I am pretty useless at quizzes.

Whilst I wait for hubby to come home from his brothers , I am going to go sit won with a coffee and start reading this

Daisy May Coopers memoir

I'm really looking forward to reading this. I think Daisy May might be a bit like marmite, you either love her or hate her. I love marmite and Daisy ! I thinks she's incredibly funny and a very strong woman.

Books & Reading.

With the neglect of my Blog the past month, I've forgotten to log my books read on the book page. I've now updated  and am up to 31 books read this year. Not bad.

I am very much a binge reader and not a few pages a day type of person. I could probably have read more but I can't multi Task reading and knitting at the same time.  I have a huge list of books to read on my Kindle and once the real book pile has diminished I may just try knitting and reading my kindle at the same time.

I have just finished reading Medusa

Interesting, but not binge worthy. Gives a perspective of events from Medusa.

I am just about to start this

I know before I start that this will most definitley be binge worthy as I have read her past Caraval trilogy and absolutely loved it, the main character in this book features in the trilogy but is a separate story and start of a new trilogy I believe.

Unfortunately I have plans this weekend so wont be able to just sit and read the weekend away, I also have a sweater to finish, quite a quandary, what to do, Read, knit or spend time with an old friend?

WIP Wednesday.

I've slowly been plodding along on a variety of works in progress. I may also have cast on one of the projects I had ear marked for next years projects, and another hat, oops. That's now been popped back into the WIP basket so I can concentrate on the task in hand which is trying to get some projects finished before the end of the year. I'm left with 8 projects that need to be finished. I have no hope of finishing all of them, but have concentrated on 2 this week.

I am really enjoying knitting this and so want it finished so I can wear it now the days are getting chillier. Just about to join shoulder seams then its just the sleeves to do. Hopefully done by 19th as I m off for the last jolly in Stan the Van and it may well be needed.

And my project for when I just want a small easy knit is

Another Litmus Cowl.

This is a great pattern, its free and so easy to knit, its basically a tube. Endless rows of mindless knit stitches. I pulled out 2 skeins of stash just because I thought they looked pretty together. This should be hopefully done by the end of the month.

Then I'm just left with 1 sweater,  1 sleeveless sweater, 1 blanket, 2 pairs of socks and a hat to try and finish.

A Cornish Easter.

Hubs and I decided to head down to see our Cornish friend for Easter. Rosie dog came along too, after all her friend big B lives with said ...
