An exciting wait.

Those of you that have been around for a while know that we lost our beautiful Frank the hound last year. We've always had a dog in the house and knew it wouldn't be long before we got another.

Hubs and I thought long and hard about what type of dog. Our last 3 have all been rescue Lurchers. But now we have Stan The Van we really wanted a smaller dog so that it can fit comfortably with us on our travels. The sons really wanted a larger dog and were hankering after a Labrador.

After much internet searching and dog watching when out and about we settled on one of these little beauties

A Border Terrier

The boys are not very happy, they think its  too small. We however, think its a perfect size for us. We have neighbours with one and have talked to many weekenders who had one with them when away about.

We decided that now was the time to look, we decided upon a puppy so we can make sure its properly trained and socialised at a young age. So after much searching and the use of the  kennel club we found a reputable breeder who has a litter due any day now. It may actually be born on my birthday !

We have a tentative hold on a female pup,[ yet to be born] but are open to a male. We don't intend to breed but have always had males and now feel a bitch may be  a nice change.

I am so happy and excited, I am checking my emails regularly as we can go over to see the pups when they are a week old and then officially put a holding deposit down and pick up when we return from USA.

I am so looking forward to our next chapter with a new hound.

  1. I'm so excited for you, I love Border Terriers although I love all dogs. Puppies can be hard work but you will have so much joy from your new pup and I hope there's a girl in the litter for you. Waiting for the puppy to be born and the wait until they're ready to leave mum will be so exciting for you. I'm so looking forward to your pupdates :)

  2. I think that's a perfect choice when you enjoy your holiday breaks in Stan the Van. And you have absolutely the right idea about training him/her yourself ensuring he/she is well socialised. All will probably be chaos at first but it won't be long before van life is enjoyed by all of you. Looking forward to the photos and updates. x

  3. When you've always had a dog in the house it just isn't the same without one - to me a dog (or two) makes a house a home. You must be so excited now you've decided on which breed to get and you know there'll soon be a pup waiting for you :)
