work and life.

Another week done and dusted, time seems to be flying by.

Works been busy, I am trying out condensing my hours into a 9 day fortnight, we have a 9-5 Monday /Friday service so not sure they would consider it but hey, I thought if you don't ask you don't get. I managed to get to the end of this week with a 4 hour surplus, which means I would have to make up 3.5 hours over the next 4 working days.

Not quite sure it would be feasible, home/son/ hound/ mums taxi service  wise, especially after my hubs work hours have been changed to 7x 12 hour shifts per fortnight, which includes working every other weekend !  hes not worked weekends unless by choice for as long as we have been together! bit of a spanner in the works now.

The only joy of his new shifts is that he is now home by 6.30pm every night, whoop whoop, no more nights home alone..We eat together every night as a family  which is great and due to the long days we have got out with the hound for some longer different walks.

Remember my last post about the whales, its part of a nature reserve so last Thursday night we decided to go find the path alongside the the river,  by the Whales. There is so much around that area that we have not explored, its fun to jump in Barry Bongo and set off with the hound.

Finished the evening off sharing a bottle of vino on the deck. Bliss.

This weekend I am going to try and think about another Barry Bongo Trip in August , we have a couple of weeks off and just don't know where to go, no 2 son is coming, no 1 staying home with hound, any ideas folks? like to be near a beach or coastal paths, a little town for no 2, maybe something historical? happy with basic sites but electric hook is a must for the little fridge and gadgets for no 2.

I do love planning holidays.

Exploring.

Yesterday we decided to explore close to home.

A few times a week I pass an amazing structure, but couldn't work out how the heck to get in to look at it.

So after a little bit of internet surfing we worked it out.
In all my years of living in this city I have never explored this little piece of woodland, tucked away but passed by thousands every day [its alongside a major route into the city]

It was a bit of trek down to see it,

but full of interesting things, then I got my first glimpse

Can you see what I see?

Wow, Is all I can say, I loved them.

Taking a break.

Its been half term here this week and both hubs and I took the week off. Its been Bliss.
I worked out that the last full week off of work I had  was last August! I have had long weekends and odd days off, but not a proper break, no wonder I was so knackered and grumpy! Lesson for this year, make sure I have some whole weeks off over the course of the year!

As it was a school break and we were all home we decided we would head out in barry bongo, destination, Isle Of Wight.

We took the ferry over, just a short 1 hour hop, a much better Journey than the trip to lundy!

We took the ferry from Southampton, oh my days, there were 4 HUGE cruise ships in, I have never seen anything like it, they are massive, The journey was a smooth one and before we knew it we were departing, I last went to IOW back in the '80's so couldn't really remember much. I have to say we had 3 days of fun and good weather.

Back home to the rest of the week off, its been great just spending time as a family, I got to play at being a stay at home mum, loved it, and generally just relaxed.
Bliss.

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
