Up and at 'em !

No time to be ill, dragged myself out of bed on Sunday, things to do, places to go.

First things first, more laundry to be done and hung on the line to dry,

Hubs wanted to get no 1 sons flooring so we can try and finish his room, [ budgeted for], as I was still feeling rough and the sun was shining we decided we would take a light brunch whilst out, especially as it was just the 2 of us, an impromptu 'date'

Don't get too excited it was a fast food American diner in the car park of B&Q, I know how to rock, it hit the spot a breakfast bap and a nice cup of tea! who cares that I was sat in the car park, what a treat!

Off to shop, job done and in budget with a few little extras thrown in

no 2 son was envious of no 1 sons new cushion!  budget laminate, cheap as chips, does the job and as we plan to move in 5-6 years no use pushing the boat out.

Home to iron, sew and clean the loo's.Got a small food shop done, not enough energy to walk the dog but did manage a roast, albeit the timings were completely out, ate very late..The dog got his walk care of hubs, and he had a nice roast himself, happy family, happy dog, then an early night for me.no crocheting done.

Weekend, claimed !

Up for work this morning, appointment booked and cant be ill, still on probation, did another 2 washing loads and hung to dry whilst at work, where does all this washing come from? I seem to be washing every day..which means extra ironing! might have to look at disposable clothes!

Managed a nice walk this evening with the dog and no 1 son's walking dog. What a beautiful evening, I love this time of year.

we set off down the river path

Whilst the sun sparkled through the trees

we sat a while to enjoy the sun setting

walked back along the river

admired the view

were excited to see our local pub almost ready to be opened thanks to the hard work of the community

strolled back up the lane enjoying the changing colours

and turned to look at the setting sun before we came in.

What a lovely way to end the day.
off to bed now to get some more energy for another day at the office tomorrow.

Urghhhhh.

Been a bit quiet as feeling decidedly yukky, a touch of the lurgy I think, sore tickly throat, coughing, headache and achy bones.. Autumn must be on its way.

Hubby picked the last few remaining sunflowers from the garden to cheer me. I'm planning a quiet weekend wrapped up and snuggled on the sofa, shame its not cold enough for a real fire yet !

Another one bites the dust !

There just isn't enough weekend in the weekend! Blink and its gone !

Today was another lets go with the flow day, we all just got on with our own agenda's, I  started off with a plan to get the ironing done first thing, then tick a few more things off my to do list, but as with all good plans, mine never go as expected, ironing's first job is to get the hangers from the wardrobes, [I iron and hang straight away, ironing in the bedroom !] Hmm, opened the door to mine and, whoosh, plan gone..

Back in July I had a good old sort out, well 2 months later and nothing has gone from drawer to hanger, time for another sort out. 2 hour's later and there's another 3 big bin bags for the charity store, then I hit the drawers that hold all-sorts, that's another 2 bags set for the tip! I was harsh..seems like this weekend I needed a good old sort out ,it does feel good !

I managed to get the ironing done, plus another 2 loads washed dried ironed and put away, bliss. I do love a clean slate for a Monday !

FIL came for dinner, cooked and cleared up by hubs, [hes a keeper ], when he left it was Monday prep, and chasing boys to complete homework.then a glass of vino and collapse in a chair to grab my hook

only 1 colour repeat left and its done, its gorgeous, I so like this project, there will definitely be a number 2, his 7 hers cushions for the bed to go with my granny stripe blanket.

So this weekend was a home one, we all poddled about doing what we wanted, next weekend is going to be a sad one, we are set to scatter MIL's ashes, I think we all needed to just do what we needed this weekend.

A simple day.

A day to do as I please, no stress, no trying to accomplish things I think I should, just going with the flow. I did make a weekend to do list, I always do, just ticking a few things of gives me a sense of achievement.

I started the day with 2 loads of washing on the line, then dropped no 1 son at the zoo-farm for his volunteer shift , scooted back to the post office to post some things, sneaked into the charity shop, which is almost next door and picked up 2 little beauties.

New gravy boat, £1.50

Vintage Tupperware egg separator, at least that's what I think it is ! , £1.50

these caught my eye, 50p each, lets hope they inspire me to read them!

Then it was off to Aldi to do a big food shop, some basics needed stocking up, frugal shopping meant lots of staple's were running short, spent a whopping £94.67 but that was a weeks food for planned menu, plus all sorts of staples.

Home to unpack and decided to rejig the cupboards, we have a huge badly planned kitchen, and little dry food storage, [currently saving for a big larder cupboard], strangely, now I am budgeting and menu planning I am building up some food stock, all good , never know when you may need to fall back on basic rations !

That is the sum total of my food cupboards ! there is junk food, I have teenage boys! we have a large freezer which is also full, I plan to buy a few little extras each week to continue to build up my store cupboard supplies, but I have only so much space!

In between we took Max over to see the dogs flyball competition, he wasn't interested! despite dogs and tennis balls, hes a strange dog!

Back to it, and hubs decided we need to do something with the fresh veg from the garden..

Lots of fresh produce and all free!everything bar the blackberries are from out garden!

Hubs decided to make...…

2 jars of sun dried tomatoes !

the apples and blackberries are ear marked for a crumble tomorrow, the melon is in the fridge as snacks, more peppers and tomatoes are going to be made into a puff pastry pizza later ! yum.. Green beans will be for tomorrow, and then probably a batch of soup for this weeks work lunches, dont you just love free healthy stuff!

Catching a quick half hour blogging before I head out to pick up no 1 son, then a nice family evening with a little bit of a crochet cushion to finish later. I shall leave you with 2 more pics from my garden, I'm starting to get green fingers you know!

olives on my olive tree!!

and some late blooms, my favorite flowers!

Happy weekend..

Phew what a weekend. I have loved it..

It all began Friday evening, it was so lovely, hubs and I decided to take the woof down to the beach, what bliss, it was a gorgeous evening,

As its just across the water from Wales we got there just as the NATO lot must have been heading home, there were 8 different sorts of military planes coming across the water, far to quick for me to catch a good shot though

And then it was Saturday, No 2 sons birthday, a quick dash to Aldi to do the weekly food shop and buy birthday goodies.. then it was play time..

A little bit of bowling

shooting some hoops

slamming some air hockey!

and playing some more machines before we headed home for food,a movie and his friend sleeping over.He had a great time, so much so he forgot his cake, think they had eaten far too much! so that was saved for today.

Then this morning, more sun ! so hubs and I headed out again with woof, back to the beach, its a little bit of 'us' time.

The woof had a great time and as the 'tide' was out he decided to give us a run for our money and went mud sliding shortly after I managed to get this shot, bugger, he was covered ! and strangely for a dog he doesn't clean himself up, more than happy to lick us, but not his own body! and hes not good at us trying to do it for him !  hey ho, story of my house, dog friendly!

In between I have managed to do some crafting ! yeah for me..heres a quick update

Lazy weekend sweater almost ready to do the bottom hem and bind off

First stripy sock almost to the toe.

and finally my favourite current my project

And now its Sunday afternoon, hubs and no 1 have gone to rugby, no 2 is in his room and I'm about to head up to do some ironing ! but I do declare this weekend well and truly claimed !

Hollibobbed..

What a beautiful week we all had. The weather was typically English, a good assortment of rain, wind and sun, but it all added to our fun. It was lovely to spend time together without electronics, and see the boys just make their own fun for a change. We poddled about visiting beaches and different towns along the north coast before heading to the south coast to stay with friends for the last 2 nights. I loved it as did we all. It went far to quickly. Here's a quick wizz of our holiday to Cornwall.

The first night was spent in this cute little hobbit house, nestled amongst a little copse of trees, the weather wasn't kind the first night it hammered down, and continued through the next morning.but it was great fun..We then set off for Newquay for the next 4 nights.

we went to Newquay where the boys went mackerel fishing

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Bedruthan steps

Had fish & chips on the beach at Marazion

Spent a rainy morning at Redruth on the way to our friends

spent the afternoon on Swanpool beach

And spent our final morning watching the parade of sails on a hill overlooking falmouth, 40 tall ships set sail that day..

We are always sad to leave our little piece of heaven, it took a 5 hr journey to get home with a poorly car, and now its back to normal, school and work starts tomorrow and no 1 son starts college on Friday. But the memories will linger for a long while..

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
