Another sneaky night away.

Making the most of the sunshine we decided to slip away in the van again.

Found a fab little farm for a spot of wild camping.. no showers just compost loo's , but for a night I can cope without a shower.

It was a great little find, Wookey Farm.  Just under an hour away from home. Spotlessly clean, loads of space to socially distance and a working organic goat farm... it was bliss, although very cold at night.

We had a great 24 hours away, some friends joined us , we hadn't seen them since February, they also have a camper, they are totally self sufficient in their van so didn't have to use any shared facilities.
We ate, we drank we chatted, we watched the night sky wrapped in blankets around the fire. It was pure bliss.

WIP Wednesday.

Not much knitting happening here this week.  Seem to have fallen out of love with most of my projects.

But they need to get done or ripped, I have projects waiting in the wings.

So thsi week was another random pull out a bag and knit week.

First up was this

I bought this kit from Purl Soho during my new York trip last year, and actually love it. It had fallen to the bottom of my WIP box and had completely forgotten about it. This is an ideal TV knit. Rows and rows of stocking stitch, and the yarn is glorious, even though one is laceweight, hence the little yarn pouches to stop them tangling. I'm glad I found this project again.

Then I pulled out this one

Bought this year during my Cornish break from stitches and cream in Falmouth. Again I really enjoyed knitting on this and another great TV project.

And finally the last bag to be pulled out this week

Plain vanilla socks, generic pattern from memory, using yarn no 2 son bought me for my birthday this year.  I only have the roe to Kitchener and then they will be done.

Quite looking forward to seeing what I pull out this week now.

Weekend.

Had a quiet weekend doing bits and bobs. Nothing exciting, just a chance to do stuff.

Saturday saw me downsize the dining table. We went from a big long oblong table to a small round table, it does extended to sit 6. The males were not happy, they like to dump stuff on it. I was happy because now they cant!

Saturday evening we went to our friends for a socially distanced home made curry. It was rather nice, ate too much but really enjoyed it. Home by 10pm.

Sunday was a do what I fancy day. I visited my sister and caught up. Then home and made a carrot cake

I managed to get my fibre off of the wheel

So I could start another spin.

Absolutely gorgeous fluff to spin. This came from Spin Jones. I love her stuff. I am thinking that this will be a pair of boot toppers for my wellies.

managed to spin the first 50g whilst sat in the garden enjoyed the sunny day.
Come the evening it felt like a read your book kind of Sunday night, so that's exactly what I did.

Halfway through, its ok, normal Cornish chic lit romance. Haven't binge read it so its not brilliant but its ok and will enjoy reading till the end.

Now Autumn is here I can feel my reading taste changing, will be interesting to see what I read next. Mind you I do have the next one of these in the to read pile.....

Fresh flowers Friday.

I am so glad it’s Friday. This has been 1 busy week and hubs has been away as well. I am knackered. I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

Today was Freddie’s Flower day

I love fresh flowers, I treat myself generally every other week. These flowers will last about 2 weeks, in about a day or two they will start to bloom. It’s such a joy to wake up to fresh flowers. It’s my little treat to me for getting through another week at work.

WIP Wednesday.

I have so many projects on the go it's starting to get me down, and there are far  too many projects I want to cast on.

This week has been all about picking up any of the WIP bags and just knitting on them for the evening. I have to be honest, none of them are calling to me. My own fault for letting them lay in Hotel WIP for months on end. I have fallen out of love with some of them.

Here are the ones I have actively worked on:

My Ocean fade sweater, I actually like this a lot. I managed to finish the second sleeve so all I have to do is the neck band and its done.

This has been on the needles for such a long time, hubs bought me the yarn for a gift so really need to get it done. Its the Inner peace shawl.  I think when its had a good blocking it will be quite pretty, just need to get it done.

Plain vanilla socks, no 2 son bought me the yarn for my birthday. I am almost there with these socks.

My knitting goal for this week is to focus on these three as they are so close to coming off the needles.

Blog sorted.

After all the kerfuffle with Bloglovin and trying to get them to remove my old blog from their site, I gave up and deleted it. Even though my old blog is now deleted and no longer accessible to anyone, even me, you can still go onto Bloglovin and see all the posts! grrr I shall continue to keep emailing them to get them to remove it.

So I exported all the blog posts to my computer then deleted the old blog. There were quite a few. Rather than upload them all to this blog straight away I wanted to go through and remove any that I no longer wanted in the public domain. Finally this week I managed it. All posts now up on this blog, phew.. all I need to do now is go through and sort out all the labels to make it more easy to find stuff.

The whole process of sorting the posts was great, like a step back in time. Its one of the reasons I want to keep my blog going, its an online snapshot of bits of my life. I keep a personal written journal as well for bits I don't want to share publicly. Especially that involve my sons as they don't want me writing about them in public or sharing their pics now. They are ok with basic stuff and pics of their back, understandable, I never share pics of me...

So now its finally set up it feels great, like a new start. My Blogging mojo is back...

Cheddar Camping trip.

Hubs and I shot off for a cheeky little night away camping. We have not been out in the van all year and as its probably our last few months with the van so  we really need to decide if we want to get another camper. Barry Bongo has been a fab van, we have had lost of adventures with him over the 5 years we have had him. He's our 2nd Bongo, we had one when the boys were smaller and they could fit into the roof space to sleep. Great memories.

I think we decided that yes we want another, but it needs to be bigger. We want something that we can stand full height in but also have room to move around in , and hopefully have a built in cooker and some storage space. fingers crossed we manage to get one next year.

This weekend we headed off for a night, somewhere local'ish and not too far to drive.  We headed to Cheddar, Surprisingly almost all the local sites were full! Nice big spacious field, able to socially distance perfectly. and immaculately clean facilities. We had a great time.

A great way to get away and recharge my batteries before another week of work.

Off on a little Jolly.

Happy Saturday!

The sun is shining even though it rained overnight. There's a chill in the air and the smell of Autumn approaching. I love this time of year.

Today we are heading off in the van for an overnight stay.

Although this is our first overnight in the van this year  [blooming Coronavirus]it will probably be our last as poor old Barry is on his last legs.
We're only going a short way and will probably end up just sitting in the field reading and watching the world go by. I've revisited my audible app and have a few books left to listen to so I plan on knitting and listening whilst hubby does his usual Saturday newspaper reading session !

I'm not planning on  any cooking, the stone baked pizza van is on site tonight so I have ordered pizza for our evening meal and we will grab some bacon butties from the local car boot sale [in the adjoining field] in the morning.

We can pretty much be self contained and maintain social distance when on site, I'm just a little worried about the loo's, but no 1 son camped there with his friends and said they were kept immaculate and regularly sanitised. I have a stash of cleaning wipes and hand sanitiser so all should be good.

FO Friday!

Yup, you heard right, I have actually managed to finish a knitting project!
Remember this

I actually blooming finished it!

Over a year on the needles, this was a labour of love, although at times it was hate, fingering weight yarn for a plus size sweater can go on and on and on....

Its the Monstera Sweater, knit in Cascade yarns. Great pattern, wont ever knit it again...

September? really?

Wow, 3 weeks since my last post. It seems an age ago.
I managed to get away to Cornwall for the week, its  was fab despite the weather being erratic
Think Storm Ellen & Storm Francis....
Despite the weather we did have a good time. We kept ourselves socially distanced, ate well and walked well! It was blooming marvellous.

We stayed with our friend for a few nights, it was the first time she had had visitors since March!

After a lovely few days exploring the coast with her new rescue dog, we headed off on our own to Perranporth.

I have to say I was very put of by the crowds and stayed well away.
We enjoyed a few nights then headed up to our last stop of the trip, Tintagel.

We stayed at Camelot Castle Hotel and had a fab time.

On our 21st Wedding anniversary we crossed the new bridge to Tintagel Castle.

Started out with sun, ended in a torrential rain pour.

We celebrated with a view over dinner

And walked more coastal paths over the next few days

Before we knew it, it was time to come home.

I had decided to take the following week off as well, its been such a long year I felt I needed a good 2 week break. We went to a friends for a socially distanced afternoon Tea in her garden, celebrated no 2 sons 20th Birthday

and took the hound for walks

even if he decided to rest at times..
Then before I knew it, it was back to work.

This week has just zoomed by, I cant believe its Friday tomorrow, the days just slip by . Its been a busy work week which is good as it does make the weekend come around quicker. Were not sure of weekend plans yet but it may involve heading off for a night in the van..

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
