WIP update.

Sadly 2 wips have been frogged

love the above sweater but not the yarn. Totally the wrong fibre and trying to gett 2 coloured stripes in was a bad idea!

loved this sweater , and the yarn, but my gauge must have been very out as it was HUGE. In retrospect I also don't think that this design will suit my apple shaped body.

On a positive note I have managed to finish 2 WIPS

My so faded shawl. What a fab pattern to knit, will definitely be doing another, this is a 3 fade and is just right size wise, loving the subtle colours too.

And the slouch hat is done. Although I am not keen on the colours in this yarn it actually looks great on and I can definitely see myself wearing this.

Next up to finish is my Lundy sweater I have not picked it up as have been pretty monogamous trying to get things off the needles, I so want a Christmas eve cast on and have just the project in mind!

Wips...

This is the final WIP post, I was going to try to do these in separate posts, but it's not going to happen. I really want to be 1 of those people that can blog every day, but with an average commute time of 45 minutes each way and a full working day, when I get home I really don't want to crank up the computer again.

So here are the final WIP's

Really not sure about this sweater, I love the pattern, its Fast Forward , by Veera Valimaki.
The pattern is just a 1 colour strip, stupidly I thought it would be great to have 2 colour stripes, which means I have a lovely little line running down its length where i have to swap and carry colours, the second problem is the yarn, I love alpaca but I'm not really liking this sweater in this yarn, am thinking that this is going to be ripped out.

Am loving this sweater, its Boxy,  by Joji Locatelli. 2 strands of laceweight held together. The multi coloured yarn was from one of my friends for my 50th Birthday.

Its gorgeous but I just cant knit laceweight. I have felt really guilty about this yarn and just couldn't find a pattern I liked , then I had the brain wave of adding a strand of laceweight mohair, and boom, a light fingering weight yarn. Now were talking. I saw this sweater on Amy Florences podcast and thought I'd give it a go. Its mohair, its tickly,  but this is an ideal pattern for throwing on over a long sleeve t-shirt. Am thinking beach days and camping trips.

Ok, mass produced yarn, its an acrylic knit, but I am no yarn snob and I cant really afford to purchase whole sweater weights of  designer hand dyed yarns.

But do you know what I love this yarn, its so soft and squooshy, and its a DK yarn.. I love the colours too. This is going to be a cardigan, its from the stylecraft  batik elements range, pattern no 9404. Pretty sure I am going to buy some more of this yarn.

And finally, my Pavement sweater, Love this sweater, love this yarn.

I only bought this colourway because its called' Lundy' which is one of my favourite places to go to and escape.

The colours pretty much match the island

I only need to get the sleeves done on this beauty and then its done. This will most defiantly be worn when we visit next year.

There are 3 other projects hidden in storage boxes that I forgot about too.

another cardigan, just needs the sleeves and edge band done, think I might pull this back out actually.  knit in stylecraft DK, pattern is Blue Sand, by la Maison Rililie.

Then this cute blanket

Just little granny squares crocheted in a merino baby wool, , this will probably stay in its little basket for now.

And finally

Really don't like the colour combo of this at all, the hook size is also too big so its a bit loose, might just bin this and start again, in more vibrant colours, I have a whole stylecraft DK stash in a box.

So there's my WIP round up.
Today I may just start on the sleeves of my Lundy sweater, but I have a yearning to sew.... now there's a whole other stash hidden in a box...

WIP Number 3.

I gave into the fade. I cast on the free your fade shawl.

I've had my eye on this pattern for ages, and in a moment of cast on itis, hit the stash box and pulled out 3 skeins.

subtle springtime colours [yes I know its winter]

bottom 2 skeins are from Norah George, Titania and Ginny Weasley colourways, the top one is from stranded dye works in her balloon colourway.

It is a very subtle fade and I am loving it, this wip has been my knit of choice whilst binge watching stranger things . As a result of being so engrossed in the programme there are 2 mistakes,[ cast on at the wrong edge] but I am not bothered its a huge shawl and will be well wrapped around my neck, so who's going to notice. I am almost to the end of the 2nd fade.

Am really looking forward to wearing this and may even add some tassles.
Its an easy knit with an easily remembered pattern [ unless your watching stranger things].
Think I may make more of these.

WIP review week.

November is all about getting some of my Knitting projects completed.

I have far too many, and whilst I knit most nights its usually on the least complicated knit.Once I get to the bit where I have to do some thinking it gets stacked in the knit basket.

But it's getting colder and I need some warm woolies. I also have a box full to overflowing of yarny goodness, and I really can't justify buying any more yarn, no matter how pretty. This week I will share the contents of the bags, hopefully it will get me focused on finishing a couple of projects this month and give me blog fodder to get me back into regular blogging.

Here's my lovely project bags, well 6 project bags and a shopper, all full of projects just waiting to be finished. I will admit to almost buying another project bag, but really? do I need one? I just need to get some projects done.

Today's projects are the contents of the 2 small project bags.

First up is the little blue sheep drawstring bag

a fab little sockhead slouch hat.I'm not sure who the yarn is by but it was bought from a destash, it has a lovely little silver sparkle. I could probably get this done and dusted in 1 evening as its not far off the crown decreases and then it will be off the needles. This is a really simple pattern, I have knit one of these for my no 1 son and they are really comfy to wear, you can fold the cuff over or leave it down.

The 2nd little project is in my gorgeous purple/green  hexi bag

a cute little pair of plain vanilla socks, knit on 2.25m needles and a 62 stitch top down cast on. I love the colourway of these socks.

This is my go to sock pattern, simple and easy, no excuse for not knitting them up. I always do the 2 small circular needles and knit one at a time, maybe one of my 2018 goals will be to learn to do 2 at a time.

So there we have it, the 2 smallest projects for my very own month of WIP to FO's
[works in progress to finished objects],.

Over the course of the week I will share the contents of the bigger bags. and who knows maybe by Saturday I can actually share a FO.

A fabulous over nighter in Brixham.

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
