Another cast on and a happy mail day.

I got led astray by Instagram again and may have cast on a  small lap blanket!

Let me just say this is a stash busting project, no yarn has had to be purchased, I have used 6 random skeins from my stash which in all honesty wouldn't have knit anything with as I just don't love the colours anymore.

wasn't really sure what they would look like, I planned to hold 3 strands together to get a nice chunky lap blanket, I know Spring is here but who doesn't need a lap blanket now and again..

This is the pattern that grabbed my interest

by Louise Tilbrook.

It is a joy to knit, I am in love and already want to knit a rainbow one.
I am holding 3 strands of fingering weight together and cast on 108 stitches using 7mm needles. In retrospect I wish I had cast on more but I am not sure quite how far this random bunch of yarn will stretch. Its big enough for my lap, need I say more.

Here's mine to date, after 1 night of knitting.

I'm really not enamoured with the colours, its a bit wishy washy/ yukky for my tastes but as a lap blanket it will do and does match the old tan leather sofa ! I am loving how quickly this heavier yarn and big needles knits up, think I am going to see what else I can mix up..

So as I have 2 sets of 3 balls to try to keep untangled, (I used some sandwich bags, 3 balls in each), would you believe I didn't have a project bag big enough.

Luckily I may just have happened to buy a large sweater sized one (for my almost complete Cornwallis). I'll be honest here I only bought it because I love the fabric and am addicted to Annes bags, (her etsy shop name is Busy pottering ) they are so well made and she uses great fabrics. So I came home at lunch time today and what was waiting for me.

And snuck inside was this little lot of goodies

I can't tell you how happy that Cornish pasty stitch marker makes me.

This is such a great project bag, I know I will get loads of use out of this one. There is definitely enough room for a sweater project in here, luckily I have 2 on the go, with yarn enough for 3 more sweaters !

Happy days, now I need to go and see if I can fit another Cornish escape in just to take this bag !

Catching up and books.

I'm back.
Things are calming down now and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

This is my last 3 day weekend as the new job is a 5 day week role. I have mixed feelings about this, I love having a 3 day weekend, but I will be honest the longer days are a killer for me. I have to catch the 7am bus so I get in for 8, then leave at 5pm, on a good day the bus arrives about 5.15 so I get home around 6, some days its really late so I get home late. I was finding it a  long day and after dinner and  a bit of housework done, my night was almost gone. The new job will see me getting the 8am bus in, so I will have at least an hour to get stuff done in the mornings and I'm hoping to get the slow cooker out and back in use. I am more of a morning person, always awake early and never use an alarm clock. I like the stillness of early mornings whilst everyone else still sleeps.

I haven't really been up to a great deal, other than working and socialising. I failed in getting my Cornwallis sweater done for Cornwall, but had a great time in Cornwall for my Birthday, despite storm Eric meeting us there. I treated my self to a Seasalt Jacket in the sale so that got well and truly christened whilst walking the coasts of North Cornwall.

I bought the extra long Seafolly jacket, half price with a  further 15 % off, was too much of a deal to miss. I love seasalt clothing and could live in their clothes alone. I have been after one of these for a while but just couldn't justify buying one at the full price, I am not short of a coat or 5 !  half price though was another matter. I am so pleased with it, its so comfy and I love the colour.

Weekends have been busy with social invites, I have tried to say yes rather than no. But this is a no weekend, this is a weekend to catch up with my self. I jumped into weekend mode yesterday, bought some new PJ's, a lush bath bomb,(never had one before), didn't pick a sparkly one, got a nice safe avobath one

This sounds weird, but I never bathe, (I shower daily), so this was a treat. The males were all out so I had the house to myself.  I came home, ate my dinner ( hubs had prepped it for me), read for a while, then jumped into a hot bath, followed by new PJ's and a G&T. what bliss and what a great way to start my weekend. I really ought to do it more, loved the bath bomb, I am going back to Lush and will  grab some more, I'm thinking I need the sparkly ones next. (Sister in law bought one when we went to Cornwall so I snagged the idea from her)

There has been no weight loss, but no gain, trying a different tack, that's for a separate blog post. I always struggle with trying to lose weight, any ideas where I can get some willpower?

Reading has been the biggest thing that's been happening, probably due to Bus commuting. Trying out some different styles and really enjoying it. Will update the book list at some point.

This is my current read

Started this week and thoroughly loving it, it spans 3 era's and although I am not far in it has caught me and I am looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

Books were a theme for my birthday and the hubs/sons did good

The sewing machine was my gift to me, the other 3 are a trilogy, (winter night trilogy) and am really looking forward to starting these, but after finishing this book

I wanted something a bit lighter before I hit the Russian fairy tales. I enjoyed The witches of new York, but I felt the ending had me asking questions, I wonder if a follow book may appear?  But I loved that the family came together to get me the trilogy.

The other thing Hubs bought for me was this

Its fab, I love journaling and this is exactly what I wanted. The photo's have a peel off back so you can use them as stickers. I have had so much fun. We left sticker photos in the little review book at the cottage, I used them to go on thank you cards to the people who came down for my birthday , made hubs a valentines card with them and obviously have used them for journaling ! Absolutely love it, the printer paper is not cheap though.

And lastly there has been spinning, I am trying to do 15 mines a day and generally manage it, unless we are away.

This is kingfisher and has to be one of my favourite coloured batts to spin so far, not quite sure what I am going to do with it, but is so pretty I may just keep it to squish. I will add a spinning post to my blog to do list !

Hope you all have a great weekend, I am now off to enjoy mine. Hoping to catch up with blog reading over the weekend too, so apologies if I have not popped by to your blogs for a while.

Waving !

Still here, just having an exceptionally busy time.
I've lost my blogging mojo a bit, I'm so busy there's very little blog worthy content!
Normal should be resumed next week when things start to quieten down a bit !
Until I get time to blog properly I will leave with a few pics of things that I have been up to !

Snow day working from home.

Blowing the cobwebs away

And finally

Trying to bake a healthy flapjack, despite still working on the recipe, they were gone within 24 hrs !

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
