Back to work on a wednesday.

Back to work today and thankfully it was a quiet one as I really didn't want to go. Wednesday is a weird but good day to go back on as I only have 2 more days to work 😅

I've  not done anything of note, other than work, but hubby has started some decorating downstairs. I had a moment of madness and bought some very loud wallpaper. It's a small internal space with no natural light so a busy wild wallpaper is probably not everyone's cup of tea  but I think it will look great. Pics when he unwraps the wallpaper ready for hanging.

Tonight I shall be trying to finish my socks

As I really want to cast on another pair! I'm almost there with them so I may just get them done.

How much?

Blimey, there was me getting all excited about new windows and doors until he quoted 13k 😱 and that was with a discount for recycling our old ones....

We will need a rethink now as that's a lot of money. We're going to get another quote but also call in the window Doctor and see what he says. We've also had to get quotes for a new boiler as ours is only just hanging on in there, its very ancient and has done well to last this long.

Maybe I should go and buy a lottery ticket ?

Ilfracombe and Home.

On Saturday we set off on the bus to go and visit Ilfracombe. We have visited Ilfracombe a number of times over the years, and apart from the harbour and verity its all looking a bit jaded now. It stayed dry and as you can imagine was very busy.

Then we puddled up to the small beach and ate our Fish & chips. Then it was back on the bus and back to site. Sadly the blooming wind didn't give up at all whilst we were there and we had very little opportunity to sit outside, it was freezing. Such a shame as the site has amazing views.

We came home yesterday which meant we missed all the traffic and I get to have 2 days at home before I go back to work. Today is all about processing laundry, spring cleaning Stan The Van and getting ahead on chores. I've managed to do the menu plan for the week and the shopping list, hoping to get out and get the shopping done later. We have a chap coming shortly  to measure up for new windows and doors, ours are ancient, drafty, 2 have also blown which means it looks like we have condensation all the time. Its about time we gave the house some love . I may also be a little excited about new doors, especially new patio doors!

Sunny days.

The sun has arrived and the wind has dropped. Its still a bit chilly, but it's so nice to be outside. It finally feels like Sping has arrived.

Yesterday we went down into Woolacombe and had a lovely walk along the beach then mooched around before we came back to the van.

Today we have walked to Morthoe, had a look in the museum and walked around the little village. Then it was back to the van for a chilled afternoon reading. Rosiedog needs a sleep  she's thoroughly loving all these walks.

Tomorrow we plan on getting the bus into Ilfracombe and having a look around the harbour and town. Rosiedog is a good bus dog too.

Bright but breezy!

Woke up to a drier but breezy morning. Rosiedog wanted up and out at 6.30am so we set off for a walk. Very wet under foot but it was worth it for the morning light.

We've decided to get the bus down into Woolacombe as I'm not keen walking downhill on wet and muddy ground as I may well end up sat in it!

Grey.

What a dismal day. We're heading south in Stan the van and the sun is nowhere to be seen

Stan had a little hiccup at the services and we had to call for help. Luckily I had a grey knit project to while a way the wait

We didn't have too long to wait before Stan was back up and running so we could get on our way.

I've prepared our evening meal already so all we have to do is park up when we get there and snuggle in for the evening. Hopefully by tomorrow the rain will have passed and we will wake to a lovely sea view.

Another lovely morning.

Another bright and beautiful morning although still very chilly. I really love mornings like this and am rather sad I didn't get up earlier to go for a walk before I sit in front of a computer for 9 hours. At least today is my last working day for a whole week. I am so ready to get out and enjoy some Spring weather.

The sun has arrived!

How fabulous to wake up to the promise of a day with a blue sky.

I have sat in my little home office looking out of the window with a smile on my face. I have no view ,I only look out at other houses but it just looks so much better with the sun shining. I have taken every opportunity between meetings to go downstairs and step out into the garden. I've also noted that little Rosie is making the most of being out in the garden.

My weather app is hinting that we may have less rain and more sun on the way, which is very good news as I am about to take a weeks holiday from work and some sunshine would be rather nice. Holiday aside March was such a grey month its nice to have the promise of sunnier days and warmer weather, and with longer days it means I can get out after work and enjoy it. I think its time o start sorting the garden ready for sunny evenings, or would that be tempting fate?

April planning.

Hello April, I can't believe you have arrived and we have done the first quarter of the year. Where does time go?

This month my eldest will be turning 25, a quarter of a century. It only seems like yesterday when he was a wee young thing. It's also the 1st year anniversary of Rosie coming home, she has bought so much joy to our family.

Then & now

Saturday morning lie in.

My April plans mostly are around my hobbies, what a surprise! We have an Easter Break away to Devon for a few days[ in Stan the van ],I actually have a whole week off of work. but otherwise it looks like a much quieter month for me

First up went to the real book pile and pulled out 4, I really need to shrink the to read pile.

So far this year I have read 11 books out of my target of 45, pretty much on track. I've just taken the top book and will work my way down hopefully!

planning  to start it this afternoon with a nice cuppa. Everyone else has gone out so I am going to enjoy the peace.

My poor old spinning wheel has been neglected  or a very long time, this month it is going to get spring cleaned and used.

I've pulled a bag of fluff from the stash so there's no excuse not to use her.

I have no idea how long this has languished in the stash box but it looks like it might be fun to spin. I have a plan to use my handspun yarns on my weaving frame to make a big blanket.

This year I have let my journaling fall to the way side. I started my first journal in 2019 and really enjoyed capturing my life. It was great to look back over lock down and see the many ways we all coped at home.  I have done a basic catch up with my journal so I can start from April afresh, I've also set up the knit journal to help me keep track of all my fibre projects

One of the things I used to include in my journaling was Tarot or Oracle cards. I have quite a collection. On one of my last trips to Glastonbury I bought a new set and haven't really spent much time with them, so guess what. I've pulled them out too.

I may have also bought some yarn for a new project..... Its a crochet project,  an actual crochet garment, not a blanket.... I'll share when it arrives. I'm hoping that a crochet garment will work up a whole lot quicker that  a knit garment!

It looks like it may be a busy hobby month rather than a busy social month which is fine by me.

A Cornish Easter.

Hubs and I decided to head down to see our Cornish friend for Easter. Rosie dog came along too, after all her friend big B lives with said ...
