Venturing out.

Another week gone, I still feel that I'm in lockdown, I'm still working at home in my little blue den and pretty much don't go out other than dog walks and shopping.

This past weekend I did go for a socially distanced walk with my friend, her husband remains shielded as he is in cancer treatment, it was lovely and I managed a quick socially distanced hello with her hubby which was lovely.  It got me to thinking though, my life is pretty darned boring now I have taken physically going to work out of the agenda. I did manage a few trips out during my week off so I'm not quite a hermit yet.

Hubs has gone back to work this week and is due to work this weekend, oh the joys of normality, I had quite got used to him being home ! No 1 son is away this weekend and no 2 son will also be working a few hours here and there. Hmm...the prospective of a weekend basically home alone doesn't hold the appeal it once did. So I got to thinking..... what to do...…..

Decision made, I have booked a day off on Friday and have booked a train ticket.....
I am going to visit my friend in Cornwall.... I haven't seen here since February and as she lives alone she hasn't really seen anyone. I'm quite looking forward to it.

Booking a train was a bit tricky, they all seem to have been sold out, but managed to get a return  ticket even though the timings are not quite what I would have chosen. I'm still not sure about train travel to be honest, but at some point in the not too distant future my job is going to require me to start travelling again. I have a full corona virus kit to take with me to keep me safe so lets see how it goes.

I'm really looking forward to a change of scenery

WIP Wednesday.

Blimey, time is whizzing by. I lose all sense of time working from home.
I have got into a happy rhythm now but am missing the people contact, Microsoft teams is fine, but its the banter I'm missing.

Knitting has been on the agenda as always, I'm currently focussing on this beauty

My faded ocean sweater. I am so into cool blues and greens currently.
This is such a lovely knit, its the so faded sweater by Andrea Mowry. Easy to follow pattern with rows and rows of TV knitting!

This was my colour palette

I've swapped out the dark blue for a more deep blue that matches the one below it more. I cant wait to start wearing it.

Then despite saying I wouldn't cast on another project, I did.

with this as my colour palette

Can you see a theme here? think I'm missing the coast...

this is the Painting bricks shawl by Stephen West. I'm doing the fingering weight version. So far I am loving this, The pattern is very clear and its quite simple to memorise the sections.

I'm really enjoying my knitting at the moment, I'm just knitting whatever makes me happy on the day, I have enough WIPS to choose from after all!

Another curve ball, taking a break and coming back.

Had to take a break from life, it threw me another curve ball.
My step mom, died suddenly 6 weeks after my dad passed away.
Nothing else to say on that matter, just wanted to explain another period of missing blog.

Bloglovin issues continue, I have deleted my old blog entirely, yet dear old Bloglovin some how can still feed people through to my blog and show my posts even though I have deleted it, how the heck does that work? still emailing them, they are still ignoring me.... GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Still working from home, settled into that routine nicely but am missing real people contact.
Gave my office a makeover, its no longer pink. Its a cool calm blue room. Just need a few more pictures for the wall.

Still knitting. this is my fade sweater in ocean colours.

Still baking, chocolate fudge cake and sprinkles this week.

Still reading, this is July's pile pulled from my huge to read pile

Pulled out my spinning wheel for the first time since April.

Finally ventured out further afield for a few walks

dropped my sewing machine in for a service

And Franky boy is loving having people around at his beck and call all day everyday..

Believe it or not that's a happy excited face on the way to the dog filed for a free run!

I'm not sure I will be posting regularly, but I feel that as life is starting to get on an almost even keel and the new normal ( hate that term) is starting to feel normal, I may just be feeling teh urge to blog again.

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
