Cracking open the dye box.

The fabulous summer continues, we had a downpour that was short lived on Friday, but the sun is still in its full glory. I really can't remember the last long hot summer,it would be great if it lasts through till August, when we have our leave, but for now I am trying to make the most of being outside in the evenings and weekends.

Yesterday I had the urge to dye some yarn, this hasn't happened in a long time, but yesterday just felt like a dye day.As with all knitters I have a stash, which luckily for me includes sweater quantities of undyed yarn.

I had no idea what I wanted to do other than dye, just that if it was destined for a sweater or cardigan I didn't want it wild, is it strange to be thinking of Autumn/ Winter during our heatwave? I literally just pulled out the first pack of yarn, opened the dye box, dismissed all the primary colours and pulled out the first packet of some procion I bought yonks' ago. This was literally going to be a lucky dip dye pot. And here's what I ended up with.

Ecru, super wash merino, nylon and Bronze stellina. I have a vague recollection of buying this to be dyed in a autumnal orange/gold colour. As always it ended up in the stash collection.

Some time in the distant past I bought a  selection of small procion dyes to try out they colours, lucky dip today pulled lilac.

Decided I wanted a tonal so went with a good old dye pot

Straight from the dye bath, after having been rinsed, still wet, didn't take long in this weather to get it dried.

Really pleased with how this turned out, was a bit worried about the bronze stellina, would have preferred it to be silver for this colour, but its ok. Really like how this has dried, some of the darker bits are move navy, think it will look great as a cardigan or sweater to wear with jeans.

Note to self
DO NOT CAST ON ANOTHER PROJECT...
