Up North, 6 nights in Whitby & Scarborough.

 Still in catch up mode.

Back in September we headed up north for a week. A whole week in Stan the van and Rosie came along too.

Our first stop was Whitby. We stayed at Whitby Holiday Park and what views. I couldn't fault the site at all.

To the back of the campsite was the coastal walk into Whitby. Up and refreshed the next day we headed out.

I loved Whitby Abbey. Then down the steps into Whitby.

Whitby, unfortunately was absolutely packed so we didn't stop too long as Rosie dog was a bit overwhelmed. We jumper on an open top bus and had a tour which luckily dropped us back at the top by the Abbey so it was just a walk back along the coast path.

Next day poor Rosie was on a go slow, refused to have her harness on, a sign she didn't want a long walk. The site had a little beach you could walk down to so that's what we did and had a day mooching around the site and reading our books.

That night we had a lovely sunset and moonrise

After 3 nights in Whitby, it was time to move down the coast to Scarborough. We stayed at Crows Nest campsite, I didn't like the site as much as had no view whatsoever, basically in a cul de sac of vans, however it was again on the coast path and if you walked to the top of the site, you had a great view.

The next day we were up and out on the coast path. Another glorious day. We walked along to Cayton Bay and back.

Another long day walking for all of us but worth it. Then back to site for a restful evening.
Next day we caught the bus into Scarborough. I'm very divided about Scarborough, parts of it I hated and parts of it I loved.

Then before we knew it, it was time to head back home.

Rosie dog enjoys her travels and loves people watching when she's in the van, she's now getting brave enough to sit outside on her own, we keep her on her line as I'm pretty sure she would run off after a squirrel if she saw one!

We had such a great time that we have decided to go the whole hog and do 2 weeks in Stan next year!

  1. My neck of the woods. We love both Whitby and Scarborough but Whitby is nearly always packed and Scarborough definitely is a place of two halves, it even has two bays which are very different. My sister lived at Cayton Bay.

  2. You brought back memories of Whitby and Scarborough for me. Looks like a great time was had and Rosie is loving her life of many adventures even if they do wear her out. Oh yes squirrels, she'd surely be after those pesky creatures :)

Cruising the Norwegian Fjords.

To celebrate reaching 60 I decided to tick off one of the bucket list holidays. I am very grateful I have a good job which pays well enough ...
