Weekend Walking.

Finally, a weekend with outdoor activity.

After the usual Saturday  activities of food shopping and archery lessons we got to go walk the hound, no lead walking this time.We headed to the fields at the back of us, bitterly cold, but beautiful.

The tide was high

The sunset amazing

After a lovely walk it was home to make a curry and feed the ravenous teenagers, we were plus 1 last night.
once fed and the plus one had gone home we settled in-front of the roaring fire and had a family movie night, [my girl-fiend cancelled due to the dreaded lurgy.] Bliss.....

This morning it was up and out, teenagers declined to come, too darned cold and involved walking!

Fancy a change from our usual haunts we headed to Stoke Park estate

Boy was it bitter up there, the ground was still frozen

but its got cracking views of the city and loads of ground for the hound!

we started at the top and walked along the old ragged wall to the Telecommunications tower

and came to the old anti-aircraft batteries

At the end of the path you hit the open fields and that's where it all begins,

The views of the city.

The big yellow building in the distance was our destination. The Dower house.

I have to say it is a bit hilly!

We stopped to look at the Obelisk

This was built to commemorate the death of Lady Somerset who died whilst riding the grounds, its twice been struck by lightening!

More great views, but it was a bit of a steep descent, great training for the legs..

We didn't go up to the Dower house, its now part of a housing estate, the house being apartments.Years ago it was part of Stoke Park Hospital, some of my nurse training was done on the wards in the grounds.

we turned to head back and retraced our steps. Following the overgrown hedges .

As we neared the car a few light snowflakes started to fall, it didn't last, such a shame.
Home to steaming tea and bacon butties, yum.

This afternoon will be spent ironing whilst hubs brings his dad down and cooks a lovely roast, once eaten the fire will be lit again and the evening spent reading.

Weekend claimed !
